Mark “Biz” Burke
Mark Burke, or as most people know him as “BIZ”, is a native of Phoenix, Arizona. Born and raised there, Mark started dancing at the age of 14 at teen dance clubs and house parties. “I would often go to the club with my friends where we would repeat moves that either we made up, or learned from watching music videos and B-Boy tapes.” By the age of 15 Biz started training and performing with a local dance troupe that would later on prove to be an unstoppable force of talent and dedication. Realizing the importance of proper dance training Mark began taking Jazz and Ballet classes on the regular, as well as, a countless number of hip-hop classes. Mark also posses a passion for music. As a skilled trumpet player, he was in the school band from third grade all the way through High School. There he received The Simper Fidelis award from the United States Marine Corp for musical excellence. “I remember going from football games where I would have just performed at half time to going to clubs and doing shows with a crew and rapper”. “Music, Dance, and Choreography, are all I know”.
At the age of 18 Mark landed his first professional dance job, dancing in Jeff Kutash’s Splash at the Reno Hilton in Reno, Nevada. After that, Mark moved back to Phoenix where he started teaching and choreographing for a number of Dance Studios in the Phoenix area. His Choreography has won National Titles and many honors across the nation. In 1997 Mark landed an opportunity of a lifetime. He was flown out to Orlando to work with a few new recording artists; one of those new acts happened to be NSYNC. “At the time they were just five guys that could sing and dance, but I knew then that they would make it big, I just can’t believe how big”. Mark also choreographed for Innosense, a group that was started and managed by Lynn Harless (Justin Timberlakes Mom) and another singing group named C-Note. Once again mark returned home to Phoenix and continued to teach, choreograph, and produce new songs with his best friend 7man. Some of Mark’s best work was done for the home opener of the 30th season for the Phoenix Suns Basketball team. “That was the most entertaining half-time show I have seen in 30 years” Jerry Colangelo (C.E.O./owner of Phoenix Suns).
Biz finally made the move to Los Angeles in 2001. Since then he has had the opportunity to dance for Lisa “left-eye” Lopes and Curb recording artist Kaci, and has remixed songs for Destiny’s Child, Solange Knowles, Kaci, choreographers Rosero and Jamal, Liz Imperio, Jayson Wright, Napoleon and Tabitha Dumo and various others. Recently, Biz has produced the soundtrack and video content for the Mus.I.C. show, starring the Jabbawockeez at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. He also recently wrapped up production on “Step Up 3-D”.
